Today’s image is of an interesting stairway that was in a bed and breakfast that my wife and I stayed at last summer on a trip to Virginia. The image was taken using exposure bracketing. Three consecutive frames were taken and the images combined in Photomatix. Some of the detail in the plaster and the [...]

We called it the 20th anniversary tour. In 2007 my wife and I celebrated 20 years of marriage with a trip to Utah and Nevada. One of the places we visited was Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. Today’s image is of Turret Arch, in silhouette at sunset. I particularly like this image because the [...]

Winter wonderland
Here is a winter scene from LaCrosse Wisconsin. The image was taken a couple years ago on a visit back to the old stomping grounds. I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures of old barns and this one caught my eye. I brought new life to the image with some top secret photoshop techniques (hehe). Anyways, [...]

Simpler times. View of a game table on the porch of The Claremont Hotel in Southwest Harbor, Maine.

In March of 2006 my wife and I made our first visit to Zion National Park. We were staying in Las Vegas and decided to take a day trip up to the park. We programmed Never-Lost to find Zion, thinking that we would end up at the main part of the park. Instead we ended [...]

Today my internal clock rolls over and begins a new year. Traditionally on this day my wife and I are either in Maine or out west somewhere hiking, taking pictures and just enjoying being away from it all. This year we’re stuck here in Charlotte so today’s image is from a happy place in my [...]

It’s the time of year when my wife and I usually have travel plans made for our anniversary . This year has been pretty challenging so our trip is uncertain. I thought I would drop a hint where I would like to go. Maybe she’ll see this

Although I don’t consider myself a world traveler, I have enough images to last a lifetime. Here is another from Valley of Fire in Nevada. Elephant Rock.

Is it winter yet?
Yesterday was nearly 90 degrees out and today is supposed to be nearly as hot. I thought I’d post something today that may bring a little relief from the heat, at least in the mind.

Some of my favorite images from photoshoots are out-takes. They rarely are seen or used for anything but often will reflect on the personality of the subject or something funny that happened during the shoot. Here is Bebe (Bess) Baldwin from a shoot we did with her in the Valley of Fire near Las Vegas. [...]

If Hertz only knew…
Ever have anyone tell you not to buy a used car from a rental company because you never know where they’ve been or who’s been driving them? GUILTY!! We when we go on vacation we like to drive what we drive at home so Volvo is always our first choice if available. [...]

I’ve always had a strange fascination with old cemeteries. So much history, so many questions. The older and spookier, the better. My image library is filled with images like the one below.
Today’s picture is from Maine. My wife and I have spent many weeks in October celebrating our wedding anniversary in the state of Maine. This [...]

Zion National Park. I’ve been to Zion with my wife several times. I could easily fill a year of “Picture of the Day” with images from the park. It is one of our favorite places to visit. The image below is from a road less traveled in the park. Most visitors stay in the main [...]

Today’s picture is another from this past summer and our visit to Pearisburg, VA. The Inn we stayed at overlooked a valley and the New River. The tree in the image stood by itself about a quarter mile from the balcony I stood on. The late day sun cast a long shadow from the tree [...]

In 2007, my wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a trip out west. One of the places that we visited was the Moab, Utah area. We chose the Sorrel River Ranch as a place to stay for several nights. The scenery around the area is nothing less than spectacular and as a [...]

Today’s image is from a weekend getaway that my wife and I took last summer. It had been quite a while since we had been away from Charlotte and we decided to head to Virginia and the Blue Ridge Parkway. After doing some online research we decided to stay at Inn at Riverbend Bed and [...]
